I set out to visit ALL the farm stands on Vashon Island. As I said here, I didn’t know how many there were or what exactly I would find. After some driving around, and a bit of internet sleuthing, I am done. At least I think I am. I would be surprised if there weren’t another little farm stand or two tucked away on some less-travelled Vashon road. My hope is that readers will let me know where I’m wrong and what I’ve missed, so I can add to and update this list.
The landscape of farm stands changes seasonally and year to year as small scale farmers grow or shrink or have babies or start selling elsewhere or go to France or whatever.
Below is my list of all 22 farm stands on Vashon Island that I know of. The fun part about visiting these farm stands is not knowing what you’ll find. I didn’t go looking for organic edible pansies, or home made ice cream, or gorgeous dahlias, or massive beets, or tiny tart plums, or dried lavender — but I was delighted to buy these and support these small farms.
Before the list, here are a few things to keep in mind when visiting farm stands:
Farm Stand Etiquette
- Know you are on the private property of a small working family farm, or in someone’s front yard. This is where they live, where their kids may be playing, where their animals graze and lay about. Please respect this and visit only the marked farm stand area. Do not wander around. Do not knock on doors to private residences uninvited.
- Contact the farm beforehand if you would like a tour or to see the farm or animals. This may or may not be an option. Most have contact phone numbers on their websites or social pages. See links below.
- Pay the full price for all items. Farm stands provide needed income for farmers. Bring cash. You will want to buy things.
- Farm stands can operate unstaffed because people follow the honor system for payment. Most have a lock box of some sort. Others just have a jar or basket. Do not screw this up by being a jerk. Karma is a real thing.
- Visit during daylight hours, unless otherwise posted.
The list below is roughly in order from North to South. Along with one of the handy farm stand maps available (see resources at end of post for links), you have more than enough information for a full day of Vashon Island farmstanding.
Farm Stands on Vashon Island
1. Forest Garden Farm
- Where: 10515 SW 140th St.
- IG: @forestgardenfarm FB: @forestgardenfarmvashon
- When: Spring, Summer, Fall
- Best Days: Stocks Wednesdays and Sundays
- What: Certified Organic produce, cut flowers, and pasture raised eggs.
Forest Garden Farm is a relatively new farm on Vashon Island and the 2nd farm on the island to become certified organic. Lisa Hasselman and Chris Hedgepeth started Forest Garden Farm only 4 years ago as their full time business. Their farm stand is right off the main highway and is stocked most days, with the exception of Saturdays, when they’re running their booth at the Vashon Farmer’s Market.
They also sell produce and flowers through Vashon Fresh midweek. See info in resource list at end of post.
The farm recently became a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat, and they are following best practices to be as environmentally sustainable as possible.
2. Green Man Farm
- Where: 8800 SW Dilworth Rd.
- When: Year Round
- What: Seasonal produce, eggs, and farm-made treats.
Green Man Farm is one of the main farms you’ll find at the Vashon Farmer’s Market throughout the season. They are also one of the only farms on Vashon that run a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, providing a weekly selection of produce for subscribers.
Their farm stand is easy to find, but I did not find it stocked on the days I stopped in. They told me to check for the wooden signs hanging at the road to know when the farm stand is stocked and with what. The best place to find their produce is the Vashon Farmer’s Market, where they’ve been selling or many years.
Stay tuned for updated info on best days and times to visit.
3. Northbourne Farm
- Where: 16530 91st Ave. SW
- www.northbourne.farm
- IG: @northbournefarm FB: @northbournefarm
- When: Growing Season
- What: Produce, eggs and U-pick flowers
Northbourne farm started in 2016. The current farmers purchased the land of the former Hogsback Farm from long time Vashon Island farmers and are making it their own.
The farm and farm stand can be seen from the street next to the charming u-pick flower patch. They are growing according to organic farming principles and have two working horses, Roy and Jay, to help with farming.
The farm stand is ending its season early for 2019 due to the arrival of a baby.
4. East West Produce
- Where: Vashon Hwy & Bank corner, in front of the Hardware Store Restaurant.
- IG: @eastwestproducevashon FB: @eastwestproducevashon
- When: Summer, May – August: Only on Fridays & Saturdays, 8-3
- What: Fruits, vegetables and flowers
East West Produce operates with a roster of 20+ farms across Washington state that use minimal chemicals or are organically grown. They drive to Yakima and Puyallup to select their fruit early in the week and bring it to us on Vashon on Fridays and Saturdays during the summer.
You’ll see the crowd shopping in the center of town where they set up, in front of The Hardware Store Restaurant at the 4 way stop. Each week expect a different selection of freshly picked fruit and vegetables, as well as some gorgeous Vashon grown flowers.
What doesn’t sell is given to the Vashon Food Bank and the Senior Center.
5. Venison Valley Farm & Creamery
- Where: 9617 SW 192nd Street
- IG: @venisonvalley
- www.venisonvalleyfarm.com
- When: Year Round
- What: Yogurt, butter, cheeses, eggs
Venison Valley Farm & Creamery is run by Kelsey and Ben, two dairy farmers with incredible expertise. The farm stand is open year round with their whole milk cream top yogurt, cheeses, butter, eggs, and more.
They also sell at the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays where you can grab their homemade mango lassi or any of their other dairy products — and meet Kelsey and Ben (and baby Darby).
They also offers occasional cheesemaking classes at the farm, as well as dairy farm consultations.
6. Pink Tractor Farm
- Where: 10714 SW Cemetery Rd.
- IG: @pinktractorfarm
- FB: @pinktractorfarm
- When: Year Round, daylight hours
- What: Eggs, Pork, Beef, Chicken, other meats
Pink Tractor Farm stand consists of several refrigerators filled with frozen cuts of meat and fresh produce. A few other farms stands have some meat, but this is the place to go for variety and selection. There’s one refrigerator for pork, one for beef, one for chicken, and one for lamb. They also offer seasonal produce when it’s available. Follow the driveway and park wherever you can. You may feel like you’re in someone’s front yard — because you are — but don’t be deterred. You are welcome and encouraged to shop the farm stand.
Information is posted about the farm’s practices once you are inside. All animals are pasture raised.
David Hatfield, who runs the farm stand along with Katie Hatfield, is also a chef and caterer, and could tell you anything you’d like to know about the meat and preparing it.
7. Juicy Root Farm
- Where: 10301 SW Cemetery Road
- www.juicyrootfarm.com
- IG: @juicyrootfarm
- FB: @juicyrootfarm
- When: March – November
- What: Lettuces, microgreens, salad mixes and herbs.
Juicy Root farm is the new farm of two experienced Vashon farmers: Brian Lowry and Cricket Carroll. Their farm stand is well stocked with greens, salad mixes, and veggies — I found truly gorgeous beets on one of my stops. They farm at historic Island Meadow Farm and other farms on Vashon to supply the farm stand.
This is a good sized farm stand with several large refrigerators to keep produce fresh. Follow the farm stands to the parking area and walk just a bit more and you can’t miss it. If you’re lucky you’ll see the lovely guy pictured above along the drive way.
8. Plum Forest Farm
- Where: 20020 107th Ave. SW
- www.plumforest.com
- IG: @plumforestfarm
- When: Open Year Round, daylight
- What: Certified Organic produce, fruit, eggs, and more
Plum Forest Farm is the farm stand I was most familiar with before this project. Farmers Rob Peterson and Joanne Jewell have been growing the farm since 1999. They were the first certified organic farm on Vashon Island and long time sellers at the Vashon Farmers Market.
Their farm stand is well stocked and operates year round. They offer a subscription program for farm stand shoppers who pay upfront and then use their credit in the farm stand or farmer’s market throughout the year.
I’ve found small treasures like little bags of edible flowers and homemade pesto here. I’ve also bought cases of organic pears for the last two winters that they supply from another organic farm.
Join their email list to get weekly farm stand updates.
9. Provo Farms
- Where: 20171 87th Avenue SW
- FB: @ vashonfarmstandcoop
- What: Eggs, seasonal produce and fruit
This is a sweet little farm stand you can see from the road. I had driven by almost daily without stopping. Check the hanging signs or just pull in and see what’s in stock. I heard from Abby at Limping Duck Farm that she is currently selling her produce at this stand as well.
As with all stands, check early in the day if looking for eggs or the best selections.
10. La Biondo Farm & Kitchen
- Where: 20602 111th Ave. SW
- www.labiondofarm.com
- IG: @ labiondofarm
- When: Check website for updates.
- What: produce, farm goodies, free range meats, dairy products
La Biondo Farm has a wonderful website and an email list for updates on farm happenings. Farm stand updates are listed on the home page as well. Look for the sign on the road to know when the farm stand is open. It opened late this year, but when I did see it open I snagged a few pints of delicious raspberries.
Karen Labiondo also runs a catering business and occasionally offers wood fired pizza to eat at the farm or take away.
11. Fruit Des Vignes Farm
- Where: 20430 111th Ave SW
- Online Store/Website
- IG: FB: Fruit Des Vignes Farm
- When: 8am-8pm 7 days
- What: Produce, ready to eat foods, plant starts, farm gifts, etc.
The Fruits des Vignes farm stand co-op is in a sweet old caravan right on the side of the road. A radio plays music as you shop. They sell locally, organically, or sustainably grown produce from Vashon Island and around the state. They also sell ready-to-eat salads and sandwiches, otter pops in the freezer, and farm items, like a bag of rooster feathers.
This farm stand is the only one with a system for online payment.
12. Narwahl Farm
- Where: 10025 SW 212th ST
- FB: @NarwhalFarm
- When: 10-7, year round
- What: Eggs, flowers, jam, honey, fruits, & veggies
This is one of Vashon’s newest farm stands, not yet listed on any of the official farm stand maps. Their sandwich board can be seen on Vashon Hwy a little south of the center of the island.
The farm stand itself is adorable with a small stained glass window and aqua vintage mini-fridge. Along with some produce, they had lavender spray and bouquets, and home made ice cream in the freezer. I bought eggs for the octagon-shaped egg carton alone — the label listed all the hens by name.
This sweet little stand is worth a visit.
13. Limping Duck Farm
- Where: 21431 Vashon Hwy SW
- www.limpingduckfarm.com
- What: Eggs (chicken, duck, quail), produce, lambs and piglets when available.
At the time of writing, this farm is not running their farm stand, but selling through Vashon Fresh and at Provo Farms Farm Stand. I include it here because they have the intention of continuing in the future. If there is no sign on the road, assume the farm stand is closed.
14. Holmestead Farm
- Where: 23013 107th Ave. SW
- IG: @holmesteadfarms
- When: Weds. – Sun., daylight hours
- What: Eggs, berries, fruit, sourdough bread, produce
Holmestead Farm is in it’s 11th year of production and uses organic and biodynamic practices to grow heirloom berries, a fruit orchard, and raise lamb.
Find fresh baked sourdough bread along with the fruit and vegetables. Stay tuned to their Instagram for frequent updates on when the farm stand is stocked and what’s available.
15. Burton Hill Farm & Dairy
- Where: 23419 107th Ave. SW
- burtonhillfarm.com
- FB: @burtonhillfarm
- What: Aged and fresh goat cheeses, whey fed pork, goat milk soap
- When: 7 days a week, year round, daylight hours
Burton Hill Farm makes fresh and aged goat cheese, goat milk soap, and other goaty products. They are a regular presence at the Vashon Farmer’s Market, as well as other local farmer’s markets. Their cheeses include chevre, goat feta, florette, and two blue cheeses. You can also find their cheese at Thriftway on Vashon.
Their goats are pasture raised and fed non-GMO feed. They also sell whey-fed pork.
Burton Hill Farm gets help from their younger family members — and with this family of 8, I imagine that’s quite helpful.
16. Lavender Hill Farm
- Where: 10425 SW 238th St.
- IG: @lavendnerhillvashon
- FB: @lavenderhillfarm
- When: U-cut fields and farm store are open for only 4-5 weeks each year in June/July.
- Best Days: During the season, Wed. – Sun., 11 – 5
- What: Many varieties of organic lavender, u-pick fields, farm store
Lavender Hill Farm is a lovely destination during the month they are open in mid-summer. They don’t have a farm stand, but do run a u-cut lavender farm and have a farm store on the property selling all things lavender. You can also find them some Saturdays at the Vashon Farmer’s Market. Check their social media for updates — and gorgeous photos.
17. Sun Island Farm
- Where: 24002 Vashon Hwy SW outside the Burton Store
- www.sunislandfarm.com
- When: Wednesdays starting in June
- What: Berries, produce
Sun Island Farm has a mobile farm stand/truck that sells seasonal produce in the Burton area of Vashon Island, one day a week.
Sun Island is a 10 acre family farm that uses organic farming methods. They raise sheep, chickens, and pigs for meat and eggs.
They have been selling at the Vashon Farmer’s market since 2005, and also provide produce to the Vashon Island School District, local restaurants, and Vashon Fresh.
And if you come across a runaway wallaby or two, give Sun Island Farm a call. I believe they are the only family on Vashon with these adorable creatures as pets.
18. Calico Gardens Flower Stand
- Where: Burton Drive across from Burton Store
- What: Cut flower stand
More information will be coming soon about this little flower stand in the Burton area of Vashon. Every time I went by, it was empty — although I’ve seen it full of sweet bouquets in the past.
19. Pacific Crest Farm
- Where: 23720 Dockton Rd. SW
- www.pacificcrest.org/thefarm
- FB: @PacificCrestFarm
- IG: @pacificcrestfarm
- When: Stocks daily, best days are Tuesday + Friday after 2pm
- What: Vegetables, fruit, cut flowers
Pacific Crest Farm is a little farther from the center of town, but well worth the drive. This farm stand is one of a handful (or less) of larger, well stocked farm stands. Information about the farm is posted around the large covered farm stand area. This farm is Certified Naturally Grown, which means they do not use synthetic chemicals, are non-GMO, and are a small local farm rooted in their community.
Pacific Crest Farm is owned by Pacific Crest Montessori School in Seattle and is run by a Vashon family along with farm interns. The farm is 24 acres in all, some of which is forest — with 10+ acres of fruit and nut orchards, more than 2 acres of berries, and over 200 varieties of vegetables.
You can find them at Vashon Farmer’s Market, Vashon Fresh, and at Vashon Island restaurants.
20. Olive Farm Stand
- Where: 24629 Dockton Rd. SW
- FB: @olivefarmstand
- IG: @olivefarmstand
- When: flowering season
- What: fresh cut flowers
Keep an eye on Olive Farm Stand’s Instagram to know when the farm stand is loaded with fresh bouquets. This little stand has stunning cut flowers and is worth the drive to Docton — on your way to Pacific Crest Farm Stand. They also sell online at Vashon Fresh (see resource list at end of post).
To pay for your flowers, put your cash in one of the sliced tennis balls and drop it through the hole in the fence.
21. Pacific Potager
- Where: 27918 Vashon Hwy SW
- FB: PacificPotager
- When: Daylight hours, 7 days a week, seasonally
- What: Massive selection of organic plant starts, fruit and veggies
If you live on Vashon Island and want to start any size of garden, fear not because Pacific Potager has got you. This is THE place for all plant starts. The selection is amazing — tables and tables of sweet little plants, ready for your garden. Laminated pamphlets provide information about the different varieties.
In addition to the plant starts, there is a seasonal farm stand with organic produce. I picked up some gorgeous purple beans and a few cilantro plants. When you’re done picking out your plants, add up the total, and put your money in the mail slot in the bottom of the front door.
You can find Pacific Potager at the Vashon Farmer’s Market as well.
22. Maury Hill Farm
- Where: 5912 SW Point Robinson Rd.
- IG: @skyonlypig
- When: Spring, Summer in good weather.
- What: Seasonal produce, plant starts, fresh herbs
I came across this little cutie by randomly driving around Maury Island. It’s a super sweet addition to the area. I wasn’t able to find out much more current information about the farm stand or the farm, but I will definitely check back.

More About Vashon Island Farm Stands:
- Vashon Island Growers Association (VIGA): This is the organization that runs the Farmer’s Market as well as several other initiatives to support Vashon Island farmers, educate, and promote food access for all. This includes Farm Bucks, which can be used at many of the farm stands.
- Saturday Farmers Market: From spring to the end of the growing season the farmers market runs from 10-2 at the Village Green in the center of town. Several of the farms who run farm stands also sell here and it’s a great way to meet and support Vashon farmers.
- Vashon Fresh: This program started in June of 2019 and allows people to shop online for farm fresh produce and products. Over 35 Vashon Island farms and producers sell here with Wednesday delivery.
- Tall Clover Farm: I stumbled across this great post from a fellow islander who knows a lot about farm stands and the farming community on Vashon. Check before visiting, as some of this is a bit out of date.
- John L. Scott: Stop into their office — the first business you’ll see once you drive onto the island from the north end ferry dock — and grab their printed farm stand map. It’s the most updated one I’ve seen.
Whew! That was fun! I loved visiting all these farm stands. Take a look at Get The Map Out’s instagram for more of what I found along the way,
What did I miss? Did I leave out any farm stands? Farmers, is there anything that needs correcting or adding to? I plan on keeping this list updated, so please let me know!
